LABOUR CONFERENCE.
COMPULSORY TRAINING ATTACKED. (By Cible.—Preei Association.—Copyright.) SYDNEY, February 10. A determined effort was mad© by a section at the Labour Conference to pass a resolution in favour of tho en->' tiro abolition of compulsory training. Mr J. C. Watson, ex-Premier of Australia, however, brought his weighty influence to bear on behalf of the compulsory basis of the Defence Act, with the result that a large majority supported tho prosont system. Tn view of a number of senout* allegations thta abuses had crept into the administration of the Act, the Conference decided to demand a. Royal Commission of enquiry.
