BISHOP AVERILL.
(press, association telegram.) AUCKLAND, February 10. The enthronement of the Right Rev. Dr. A. W. Averill as Anglican Bishop of Auckland took place in St. Mary's Cathedral this evening. Practically all the clergy of the diocese wore present, and the ceremony was performed by the Archdeacon Calder, Commissary. A very largo congregation was present. The "Bishop preached a powerful sermon, and at the close of the service a solemn To Deum was sung. , The Bishop will celebrate Holy Communion in the Cathedral at 0 a.m. tomorrow, and will be publicly welcomed at tie Town Hall on Thursday night.
