FIRES.
(PBBSS ASSOCIATION TEIEGEAMS.) INVEKCAItGILL, January 24. A fire broke out at two o'clock this morning in Gordon McKenzie s tobacconist's suop, and spread to J. S. Goidie s, draper. The building was gutted, and the fctocks of both were entirely destroyed. The insurances on Goidie s stock wero £500 in the North British office, and the loss is estimated at £300. McKenzie's stock was insured for £100 in the New Zealand office, and the loss is estimated at £70. The building was insured for £500 in the Ocean office. PALMERSTON N., January 24. A big boardinghouse at Miranui, Makerua, was totally destroyed by fire at 2 o'clock this morning. The insurances were £900 on the building and £650 on the stock and furniture, including two billiard tables. There is a heavy loss over the insurance. The building was the property of A. and L. Seifert and Co., and the furniture of Rowley, caterer. At. 6.15 yesterday morning an outbreak of fire occurred at 78 Ferry road in a hairdressing saloon occupied by Mr J. Overend, and owned by Mrs Brookes. The stock and fittings of the shop were insured for £100 in the- Atlas office. The insurance on the building iteelf was not ascertainable yesterday.
