ST. ALBANS.
There was a large gathering at the St. Albans School yesterday on the occasion of the annual prize-giving, which was-held in tho open air. Mr Beanland, the chairman of the School Committee, addressed tho parents and scholars and presented the prizes, and Mrs Stewart presented the' prizes on behalf of the W.C.T.U. This organisation presented eight prizca for an essay on temperance, and two of them were won br-M__ol_r3 of St. Albans, in competition with ail the rest of the schools in Christchurch. The Christmas trees and Father Christmas were features of the function, which went off very well indeed. PRIZE LIST.
