*• CONSOLIDATED OILFIELDS OF TARANAKI, LTD. The news telegraphed from New Plymouth yesterday announcing that the Huiroa bore had struck a good showing of oil at the shallow depth of 1200f*z will be of much interest, to Canterbury. The territory owned by tho above company comprises some 6600 acres; and is situated inland about ten miles southeast from Inglewood, in the Huiroa survey district. The share capital of the company is £40,000, nearly all of which is held in Canterbury?- Tho news should be a source "of great satisfaction to Mr R. Speieht, Geological Instructor to Canterbury College, who originally reported on the property as an oilbearing territory.-
