A REMINDER.
TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS."
Sir, —There are two classes of people, especially, who are deserving of support at this season, and it seems to mo they should receive recognition at the hands, not only of the commercial oommunity, but of all who can help. I refer to the City Council drivers, whose loyalty to the city had a wonderful affect in killing the drivers' strike, and also assuring the cleanliness of the city. Then, the second class is the seamen through whose loyalty and enthusiasm in working the cargo our ports have been kept open. The Seamen's Institute in Lyttelton have arranged a Christmas festival for these men, including a Christmas tea and" a picnic on Boxing Day, and anyone desirous of recognising the action of our seamen cannot do better than send along any goods, suitable for picnic prizes, or in fact any articles which may be useful to the "'seamen either at the Institute or for picnic purposes. Tf some ot your readers could only see the gratitude of these men they would feeL quite repaid for any sacrifice or effort made. —Yours, etc., RONALD S. BADGER, Hon. secretary, Sailors' Society.
