ABOLISHING PREFERENCE TO UNIONISTS.

POLITICAL ACTION t. STRIKES.
PARIS, November 12. Mr Smillie, in an interview, said that British miners were satisfied with the legislation arising out of tho 1912 striko. Two million miners had combined nut to let loose a movement similar to that of 1912, but to prove their strength by syndical political action, thereby rendering strikes un-
necessary. A FRESH STRIKeTbODT LARKIN.
LONDON, November 12. The rest of the shipping employees of Dublin have struck, demanding the immediate release of Larkin. The port is practically closed, and to-morrow's weekly cattle market has been postponed.
A RAILWAY TROUBLE.
Five platelayers on the Cheshire lines have been suspended for refusing fog duty until their demand for improved conditions-was granted. Tho Liverpool District Railway men's Committee is discussing the question of-taking united action. \

Five strikers were arrested for burning a timber yard at Kenrick's Works, West Bromwich.
DISTRESS IN DUBLIN.
(Received November 13th, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, November 12. Eighty thousand women and children in Dublin are in a grievous plight, owing to insufficient food and clothing and the approaching winter.
