NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL.
A meeting of the Management Committee of the Now Zealand Cricket Council was held on Tuesday. Present--Massrs G. F. Fra|i_i_ (chairman). J- H. Williams, A. T- Donnelly, S, A. / Orchard, E. J. Austin, and. _. C. Raphael (hoa. secretary). • . In connexion with t-ho' Selection Committeo- recommendation of appointing a fourteenth man for the New Zea'ond team, the hon. secretary reported that he had written to the Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury., and Otago Associations, stating that if each of those Associations would give a further guarantee of £13, the recommendation of tho Selection Committee would bo agreed to. The Counoil hare decided to guaranteo £15. Replies were received from tho Canterbury Cricket Association agreeing to. give the extra guarantee asked for, but the Auckland, Wellington, and Otago Associations wrote that they were hot in a position to make any further guarantee towards the expense of sending a team to Australia.

The secretary of tho Christchurch Boys' High School wrote, stating that his school had received a challenge from Christ's College for the Heathcote Wi!- j liams Challenge Shield. The secretary of tho Otago Cricket Association wrote, applying to have tho Otago colours registered as dark blue, this being tho provincial colours in all branches of sport in_ Otago, It was docided to agree to tho Otago -Association's request. A letter was read from Mr IX. Vincent, thanking tho committee for the resolution of appreciation of his services'on the Management Committee, and stated that if at some future time his services in tho interests of the game were required, ho would endeavour tp render. any assistance he could.
