THE ROYAL SOCIETY. A meeting of the Dominion Executive Council oi the Royal Liie-tuving Soc.cty took p.aco on Wednesday. Present:—Messrs K. iii'-ssett v Auckland) in the chair G. A recommendation was received from tho .Canterbury Head Centre to the eff.ct that Head Centres phoiild bo represented on the' Central Executive, Lor.djii. It was moved by Mr F. T. Ager, thut the matter be referred to the chief secretory, Mr WHiam Henry, asking him to appoint a suitable de.cgate who would watch Dominion interests. The secretary (Mr B. J. Ager) reported that Mr F. Johnfon, Christchurch had kindly consented to r.ct as the Council's honorary solicitor, and hrd drawn tip a eet of rules for approval. Alter some slight alterations the rules were passed by the meeting. J SUMNER BRANCH. „ At a meeting of the Sumner Branch of tho Royal Life-saving Socktv, Mr S X Bassett presiding, it was resolved to invite 'the New Bright™ &,,rf Ciub to .attend the opening of the Sumner Branch's season on Nov-niber 22nd. with a suggestion that they oraaairo a ..ug-cf-war, ard thus make an annua? contest at their respective openings each teason. Iho formal opening day was fixed for Saturday, November 22nd, but patrol duty w>ll commence on Sunday n-ext, November "nd betwen the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p m ~™d each succeeding Sunday.
