GRAY CHALLENGES THE WORLD
(By Cable.—Pr«M Association.—Copyright) LONDON, October 28. Gray has challenged anyone to play him a match of 18,000 up, level, with ivory balls. His backer is willing to risk a substantial sum. Richard Wootton, Gray's backer up to £500 a-side, prefers a match with Stevenson, owing to his admitted superiority with ivory balls. (Received October 29th, 10.50 p.m.) LONDON, October 29. Reeco accepts £100 a-side, but reminds Gray of his challenge cabled on September 12th. Stevenson and Recce are playing a closely-contested match of 18,000. Stevenson is conceding 1000. Recce is 11,930, and "Stevenson 11,697.
