CANADIAN OPINION.

(Received October 30th, 12.25 a.m.) OTTAWA, October 29. The Liberal Press acclaims New Zealand's naval policy, declaring that an opportunity has now been given Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to combine for tho defence of the Pacific. The Laurier policy of two Canadian fleets, one for the Atlantic and tho other for tho Pacific, to enablo Canada to unite with the Mother Country to defend the Atlantic, would also unite Australia and New Zealand in the defence of tjie Pacific Mr , Massey's abandonment of subsidies to the Royal Navy is taken as an indication that Canada ought never to begin such a system. Sir Wilfrid Laurier, in an electioneering speech, declared that the Borden naval policy, whioh was conceived in iniquity and "mendacity, had ended in discomfort. Canada was becoming a nation, and the people ought to be prepared to relievo England of the necessity of defending Canadians.
