In an interview he said he did not like to make excuses, but he thought he would have beaten Barry comfortably if he had not been seized with cramp in the arms after passing Hammersmith. In his opinion Arnst, fit and well, would beat Barry. Paddon had nc chance unless he had improved greatly in rough water work. Pearce is considering the offer of the Yale University to undertake the duties of coach, at a salary of 3000 dollars a year.
