At the annual meeting of the' Forbufy Park Trotting Oiub, -Mr 11. Rutherford was elected president in succession to Mr W. J. Gore, who has held office since 1906, but did not offer himself for re-election. The Wairarapa Racing Club has authorised its Programme Committee to allot a sum not exceeding £2250 as stakes for the, Summer Meeting. Big Blast has been fired, and will be placed on the retired list for a month o-: two. What Sir Robert Stout termed a novel application in his forty years' experience with courts and their workings was made by Mr W.. J. Treadwell at the Supreme Court at Wanganui yesterday, on hehalf of a juror who wished to be excused from service. He stated that the applicant was a horse-trainer, and that his charges had very important engagements to fulfil at the Marton "races this week, and that if he was debarred from attending to them in the last few days, all his past preparation might nol be of any avail. On the ground that applicant's absence from nis employmt ? e - . mi S lrt interfere detrimentally with hie business, the application was granted.
