Nominations for tbe ueraldine Racing Club's Spring Meeting close on Thursday evening. Mr T. H. Lowry's A.J.C. Derby candidate Soltano was • shipped from Wellington for Sydney on Friday by tbe Maunganui. Mr Lowry's trainer, F. Davis, went across in charge of the colt, By the'same steamer, rl. Hiekey left with Beacon, Whakaweira, and Sir Daniel. T. Lloyd is expected to leave Wellington for Sydney next Friday with tho jumpers Glenmore and Marton. The dispersal sale of the Oobham Stud, over which Mr W. Allison ("Special Commissioner" of tho "Sportsman") had so long held control, was held on July 21st. A few of the lots failed to reach the reserves placed upon them, but forty-seven were dis- j posed of for a total sum of 7171 guineas. The' Australian-bred stallion Great Scot brought 1000 guineas, and will find a new home in Russia. He is now fourteen years old.
