SATURDAY, AUGUST 29th
"An accident took place at Lyttelton on Wednesday morning to one of the lighters owned by Messrs Cameron and Rhodes, as she was proceeding under sail from tho Ismny to Peacock's wharf. Beins heavily laden, and having a quantity of packages on deck, a puff of wind" caught her, w,hich caused, her to capsize, together . -with three men, who were saved by a boat from the brig Thames. Several boatmen put off to their assistance, and saved several packages. The Gazelle towed the boat and cargo that re-; mained in her to tho Government wharf, and several men were engaged till a late hour on "Wednesday night landing the goods. There are seventeem packages missing, having sunk in deep water, and jjreat damage done to others, which will entail a heavy loss ou the parties concerned.
