ALLEGED CUSTOMS FRAUD.
AN IMPORTANT CASE. (By CabU.—Preee Ae*oci*tioii.—Copjricfet.) LONDON, July 18. The Australian motor-car case, in which ten persons are charged with conspiring to defraud .his Majesty's Customs, lias opened. Albert Kemsley, one of the defendants, was absent through illness, and there is little probability of his ever being able to attend.
Mr Fulton, counsel for the Commonwealth, in a four hours' address, alleged that tho firm oi Tozer, Kerasley, and Fisher had persuaded certain English manufacturers to falsity invoices, and that these were passed on to the Kcmsley Proprietary, who in turn sent them on to Australia. The Kemsiey Proprietary controlled all the agencies for principal cars in tho Commonwealth. Counsel explained that proceedings had also been taken in Australia. The case was adjourned.
