ARMING THE POLICE
(By Cable.—Prete Assoc-ition.—CopyrigHt.) LONDON, May 15. The "Daily Express" states that in order to obviate the use of tho military for suppressing strike riots, the AVar Office has issued rifles and bandoliers, with ball cartridge, to a proportion ol ; tho county police, though the military will protect railways, dockyards and public buildings.
