OXFORD
At the Oxford sale on Thursday there was a yarding of 8000 sheep, the entry being made up of 3820 fat lambs, 320 fat wethers, 515 fat owes, 3315 stores. The fat sheep and lambs, as a whole, were of an exceptionally high quality, and tho keen competition they evoked amongst the buyers resulted in the attainment of prices that constitute a record for the yards, with the exception of a few small lots of extra special show lambs sold at a previous sale. Every pen of fat sheep offered Mas sold at auction, and tho bulk of the store sheep also changed hands. Tho following is the range of nrices obtained: — Fat lambs 19s to 22s *10d. extra to 245, fat wethers 20s to 22s 10d, extra to 23s lid, fat ewes 14s 6d to 17s id, extra to 19s 6d, forward wethers 17s8d to 18s Id, store wethers 14s 6d to 15s 6d, forward lambs 15s 6d to 16s sd, store lambs (mixed sexes) 12s Id to 14s 4d. forward ewes 9s 6d to 11s 7d, six and eight tooth awes 14s 9d to los, sound-mouth owes 11s to 13s 6d; springing heifers £8 to £8 2s. fat cows £5 10s to £G 12s 6d, calves 12s to 17s 6d; weaner 6s to 11s.
