RANGIORA
The annual meeting of the Rangiora Borough Council, to instal the Mayor, was held last Friday evening. Present: —The Mayor (Mr M. Sanpom), Crs. C. 1. Jennings. W. McGruer, H. Boyd. 11. H. Dix, F. H. Lane. W. Wright, R. 11. Walker, J. F. Sutherland, an<l W. Blackott. As renior councillor. Cr. Jennings congratulated the Mayor on his return unopposed. A vote of thanks to the superintendent and members of the Volunteer Fire Brigade for their services in the past year was carried. At tho ordinary mcet'r*'! an application was made by the ambulance branch to use the tirebell for signalling its members in case of serious accidents. —Referred to tho Fire Prevention Committee to report. Tho Hospital and Charitable Aid Board notified a levy of £'MS 9s 10d. It was decided to attend to a drain near Mr W. Boss's property. A request from tho Rangiora County Council for a. gas connection to its new offices was approved. Tho County Council claimed .I*s towards the cost of printing the heavy traffic by-law.— To be pnid. The manager reported an increased output of gns. Tho net profit on gas for the year was £660 12s. Kx-Cr. Bell explained the items of the gas account, and was thanked for doinu so; also for past services. Tho standing committees elected were: — Works: Crs Boyd, McGruer and Wright. Finance: Crs. Jennings, .Sutherland, and Lane. Lighting and Oils: Crs. Blnckett. Dix. and Bovd. Fire Prevention: Crs. Walker, Dix, and Lane. Sanitary: Crs. Jennings, Wright and Blackctt. Bath: Crs. Dix, McGruer, and Boyd.
