A TORNADO.
SIXTEEN PEOPLE KILLED. A TOWNSHIP DESTROYED. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received May 15th, 11.10 p.m.) NEW YORK, May 15. A tornado struck the southern part of Omaha city, unroofing many houses. The people were not hurt, but, becoming panic-stricken, fled into the streets. Tho tornado struck 6eward township, and killed twelve and injured fifty people. The town is reported to have been destroyed. Other neighbouring towns suffered heavily, including McCool and Tomalo, where four people were killed. Tho tail end of the tornado at Omaha caught a Union Pacific railway motor-car, and hurled it for miles at top speed, partially wrecking it. The passengers wero injured. Largo areas of crops were devastated.
