MALVERN.
Very boisterous and wintry weather has been experienced here since the beginning of tho month, hardly a day passing without rain. The ranges aro heavily coated with snow, heavier, for tho timo of year than for several years past. Although the rainfall has not boon particularly heavy at any specific time, 3.3S inches have been registered here since tho beginning of tho month, as against 1.32 ii'c'us for tho whole of May"last year. The continuous rainfall, coupled with tho absence of sunshine and drying winds, has left tho soil in a sodden state, which makes it difficult to work. > Potato digging has been rather seriously hampered, and what tubers are dug cannot be taken from the paddocks rawing to the difficulty of hauling on the soft ground, and in many cases aro exposed to severe frosts. In spite of the discomfort and stoppaK o of work, tho wet weather will do good, and will assist the hoarfrosts to penetrate the soil to a greater depth than would otherwise be possible.
