ADDINGTON LIVE STOCK MARKET.
(by oub commekcial editor.)
There were large entries of stock, the yardings of fat sheep and lambs showing an increase upon last week. There was a good attendance. There was a good sale for store sheep, though owes were a shade- easier. Fat lambs sold somewhat irregularly, and, on tho whole, a little below last week's rates. Fat sheep sold without much change from last week's prices. Fat cattle wero somewhat easier, and fat pigs showed eomo improvement.
STORE SHEEP.
The entry of store sheep differed little in point of numbers from that of May 7tb, but would have been much smaller had not a considerable number of oversea sheep intended for the previous week's sale not arrived too late, making it necessary to hold them over for a week. Tho entry consisted largely of ewes, mostly of a very medium class, and in this section oversea sheep were largely represented, many, owing to the rough weather recently experienced, not looking to the best advantage. Tho balance, and much the smaller part of the entry, consisted of lambs of various classes, and wethers, tho latter being mostly of a good class. The demand for ewes was not nearly as strong as at recent sales, and prices all round showed a decline, this being most noticeable in the case of inferior sorts. Competition throughout was sluggish, and some lines failing to reach owners' lesorves were withdrawn. Forward lambs sold at prices well up to recent quotations, but other descriptions wero easier. Tho few lines of wethers on offer were mostly in forward condition, and sold at prices well up to the previous week's quotations. It was noticeable that Southern buyers die! not operate nearly as freely as at a. number of sales during tho past few months. Quotations were:—Ewes: Two-tooth (good) 19s 3d, four-tooth (medium) 15s 7(1, two and four-tooth 14s od, two, four, six and eight-tooth 11s for inferior sorts, to lls 4tl for good, four, six, and cvight-tooth 13s Gd to 16s (a line of exceptionally good sheep of this age was passed in at 21s 3d), four and six--1 tooth 13s 6d to Its 6d, sis and eighttooth 12s Gd for inferior sorts, to" 14 s Gd. and-medium sound-mouth sorts 12a 6d to 13s, Id, full and failing mouth 10s. aged sorts 7s Gd to 8s Gd. culls 5s to Gs, and aged merinos 3s Id, two, four, and six-tooth empty ewes made ■ 12s Sd to 13s.
