Before tlio commencement of \ZT<l' M . r 1 • D ' congratulated the chairman on his appointment to tne position of president of the New Zealand Rugby Union, and eulogised lus services to tho game, particularly in Canterbury. Mr C. Buchanan also congratulated Sir Slason. In returning thanks Mr Slason gave a brief summary of tho proceedings at tho annual conferenco at Wellington, emphasising tho .marked cordiality which prevailed. He referred to the allocation of tho inter-island match, and said he wished to make it clear that the match was not alloted to the Union, which was willing to take the responsibility, but Canterbury had pressed the point of its advantage to their ground. The following dates for representative matches had been approved:— July 12 (Saturday) v. Maori team, at Christchurch. Aug. 14 (Thursday) v. South Canterbury, at Timaru. Aug. 16 (SatureLay) v. Otago, at Dunedin. i Aug. 20 (Wednesday) v. Southland, at Invercargill. Aug. 30 (Saturday) v. Wairarapa, at Christchurch. Sept. 13 (Saturday) v. Wellington, at Christchurch. The following fixtures had also been approved:— July 26 (Saturday.: North v. South Island, at Christchurch. Sept. 20 (Saturday): Test Slatch, New Zealand v. Australia, at Christchurch. The West Coast Union were also anxious for a visit from a Canterbury representative fifteen. Sir F. T. Evans, tho other delegate to tho conferenco, endorsed Sir Siason's remark's regarding the cordiality of the meeting. On the recommendation of the Competitions Committee it was decided that all matches should start at 2.45 p.m. on Saturday and following Saturdays. Dr. G. SI. Lester wrote accepting his appointment as a doctor under the Union. Leave was granted the Canterbury College Club to withdraw its President's Cup B team from the competition, and it was decided to recommend tho Permit Committee to allow members of tho B team to play in the A team under certain conelitions. The Old Boys' Club wrote requesting that it should be allowed to enter a President's Cup B team in place of tho Linwood B team, which had withdrawn from the competition. It was decided that the request be granted as from Saturday week, provided the Permit Committeo were satisfied as to the status of tho players. Tho secretary of the Cheviot Club wrote asking tliat a town team be sent to play a team from tho club at Cheviot. It was decided to reply that a match would bo played against a combined Kaikoura-Waiau-Cheviot team by the junior representatives, but they would not be ablo to meet a club team. The Wairarapa Rugby Union wrote accepting August 30th as a suitable date for the match against Canterbury at Christchurch. A request from a Little River club for a visit by a junior team was deferred until an estimate of the cost of hiring a motor waggon was obtained. The St. John Ambulance Association wrote acknowledging the receipt of a donation of £3 3s from the Union. The secretary of the Ashburton subunion wrote with reference to assistance by the Canterbury Rugby Union, and the visit of two senior teams as a benefit, and suggesting that instead a donation of about' £10 should be substituted towards fostering the game in tbe district. It was decided to fall in with the suggestion, anel a donation of £10 was passed accordingly.
