SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

The monthly meeting of the Kaiapoi School Committeo was held on Monday. Present —Messrs T. R. Leithead (chairman), A. G. Ashby, G. Miller, J. Brydon, T. Mallasch, J. K. Yellowlees, A. Blazey, Hoskin and F. Thome. Tho roll number of the primary school was reported as 429 with an average attendance of 392, and the secondary school roll 20 with an average attendance of IS. Iho question oi improved desks was referred to tho Board of Education, as many of tho desks are narrow and out of date. It was agreed to arrange, if possible, for a picture show benefit to pay for asphaltufg at tho school.
