CABLING THE NEWS
Tho Postmaster-General, the Hon. R. Heaton Rhodes*, has handed us for publication tho following letter, which tho Secretary of tho Department has re- I ceived from the General Manager of the Central News Agency, London: — "I trust that I may be permitted, on behalf of the management of the Con- ! tral News Agency, to thank you and ! the officers of the Sew Zealand Telegraph Department for the efficient and, indeed wholly admirable, manner in which they dealt with tho exceptional and important traffic which arose out of tho sad disaster to Captain Scott, during the week commencing February 10th last. I refer not only to the despatches sent to us in libndon and to tho Australian and New Zealand Press Associations by Mr Kinsey, but also to the messages which our local correspondent at Christchurch, Mr Drummond, sent to tho 'Daily Chronicle,' London, at our request. Tho work could not have been dono better, and it is greatly . appreciated by the Central News, and j by yours faithfully (signed), John Gennings, General Manager."
