At a meeting of the East Oxford Railway Liagtic, held on Thursday ni?!;'it, a reso.ur.ion was unanimously carried thanking Mr J. Ingram for his g:fr to the Government of a piece of land for a site for a central post office In spite of the wintry weather, there was a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Oxford branch of the W.C.T.U. Addresses were given by Mrs Harrison, of Kaiapoi, and Mrs Fawcett, of Dunedin. A sum of £2 was voted to the A. and P. Association for tho right of the luncheon booth at the recent show. Tho Oxford Debating and Mutual Improvement Society met on Thursday, the president (Mr * K. Kippenberger) being in the chair. Mr Miles Verrall gave a lecture on the "State Bank." The syilabus for the session was approved, and includes, besides several debates, lectures on "Single Tax" and "Proportional Representation," and makes provision for three inter-club debates.
