The sixth annual meeting of the Canterbury Civil Service organisation, held on Monday evening, was largely attended, the principal feature being tho presence of many officers who had not previously taken any interest in affairs. The annual report said that the> Public Service Commissioners, in their; report, had made many reeommendaK tions on the lines of the Association's representations. The result of the efforts of the Public Service Commissioners to remove existing anomalies, improve conditions, and bring down a workable classification, would be eagerly looked forward to. 1S was decided to set up l a special committee to go into the question of Beceding from the Wellington Executive, and of converting the funds set aside in liquidating the local debit balance. . .'.'■: ..-..■',' A new constitution for the Publio Service Association was drafted j and .it was decided that in future the surplus funds should be used for the benefit of the main bodies interested. I The appointment of Conference delegates was left, to the incoming committee. " " . - J The following were elected a committee for the ensuing year:—Messrs Bacon (Customs). Brooks (Justice), Butler (State Coal), Cordery (Customs), Dicker (Agriculture), Farr (Publio Works), Jordan (Public Trust), Maloney (Transfer), Moon (Tourist), Morgan (Prisons), Morrison (State Fire), McGill (Prisons), Prudhoe (Government Life), Rich (State Coal), Rowden (Agriculture), Russell (Valuation), Seaton (State Fire), Stanley (Public Trust), W*bb (Survey), Willis (Labour), and Withers (Stamps). Subsequently the following officers were elected:—Chairman, Mr H. S. Cordery; vice-chairman, Mr Willis; honorary secretary and treasurer. Mr' GL J. Russell.

It was decided to have a monthly meeting at 7.30 p.m.', on the second Monday in tho month.

Messrs Willis and Russell were appointed representatives on the Public Service Association
