TEMPLETON CAMP.

Tho whole of yesterday morning was devoted to a tactical scheme, worked under Captain Finnis, adjutant of the Ist Regiment, who is second in command of the camp. Tho idea was that there was an enemy, represented by two companies, moving from Yaldhurst against tho camp. All ranks entered into the- matter with the utmost keenness*, , and showed that they had paid considerable attention to the lectures, so that they could enter upon tho task set them with a very fair elementary understanding.

In the afternoon, musketry instruction, section drill, and company drill were carried out. At night it was intended to have some elementary nißht operations, but by 5.30 it was raining heavily again, and the usual lecture* had to be substituted for them.

For tho first time in this camp, a social tent, under the control of of the societies, was available for use. It is quite large enough for its purpose, consisting, as it does, of two of the Government marquees, lent for tho purpose, joined together. 31r H. V. Ward, who did such good work as telegraph operator at tho two Brigade camps, is in charge of it, and says that the intention is -that they shall be left standing, so that they may be used for the casualty camp of the mounted men, opening on the 12th of this month.

The health of t!ho camp continues excellent, and yesterday the men of the medical corps were engaged, for the most part, in the construction of a model incinerator, under the supervision of Sergeant-Major Thompson.
