THEATRE ROYAL. '"Sweet County Kerry" was stagml by tho Allen Dfjone Company at the Theatre Royal on Saturday night. Tho piece has been seen here before, but the fact that it has lost none of *ts old popularity was evidenced by tl'o crowded state of the Theatre oil the- occasion of its revival on Saturday iight. It is a bright littlo piece, much moro a romedy than a drama, :ijk! with a little more music and dancing would make a good musical cornodv. Mr Alien Doone headed the caste as Dan O'Hara, the Kerry larmor. In this he displayed nil the faults, foibles and attractions of tho hnppv-go-luckv Irishman who is easily paised to a high state of elation by good fortune, and as easily depressed when things go wrong. Most of his work, however, was of tho lighter ordpr. He was excellent in tho many love .scones which ran through the play, and revealed himself as a comedian of no mean order in the prison scene, arid on other occasions throughout the pirce. The Irish songs 'io snng included "Relievo Mo if all Those Endearing You 12 Charms." This ho gavi> from behinl ■the. bars of his prison while his sweetheart was departing, never, as he fp.ired. to see him agnin. It was not exactly a vocal success. No man in such a nlight could possibly malco it po. ITi .houldn't try. Tho other songs which pitrned round' of nnplnuso were:—"A Toast to Erin," f> nd "Love's Lnnguaco." Misq Edna Korlov ns Nornh Drew, TXin's Wnrt, had a pretty part to play wit*i littlo of tho sterner work in it, and, .-■ho carrier! it through very successfully. Mr Onslow Edgeworth as Valentino Hay, tho somewhat innocuous villain of tho pieco, performed well, nnd his man O'Drino, a process server (a part taken by Maurice Lynch) was quite a comedian in bis way. Mr J. V. White, as Captniu Sydney, and Mr Felix Black cs Serjeant Bull were the two more prominent figures engaged in the running of a comic-opera gaol, almost a new ago prison as depicted in "The Nightbirds." Tho othor parts were Jill capably filled. Tho real success of the piece, however, was in its mounting and stage work Tho-farm scene in the opening act was full of life, .i;:d realism. Ducks quacked, pigeons eo-oed, pigs squealed, tho pump poured out water, a jaunting car appeared, and a splendid effect resulted. Dan's smithy, in the third act, was another well worked out sceno. Thero was not much make-believe about it. Too forge, anvil, and other apparatus of n. smithy wero all tho real articles, and a real red-hot horse-shoe wa3 shnpod by Air Allen Doone during tho , scene.
