Boag and Guinuv gained further ground for Old Boys, the latter being pushed into touch at the twenty-five fiajr Erratic passing by the Old Boys backs enabled Christchurch to return to half way. Jacobson broke through and passed to Tosswill, but the latter kicked too hard, the ball going over the dead-ball line. Old Boys were forced immediately afterwards by a long kick by Robinson. Old Boys attacked, and H. Taylor working the blind side passed to Simpson, who got near the line but held on too long. The Christchurch forwards broke through, but oti-side play near the centre enabled Bain to have a shot at goal which, however, went wide- and Christchurch forced down. Play was stopped momentarily I owing to Burn being injured, and he • left the field a few minutes later.
