COUNTY COUNCILS.
SPRINGS
Tho monthly meeting of the Springs County Council was held at Springston on Thursday.- Present—Crs. M. F. Ryan (chairman), C. Wolfe, I. Andrew, 11. W. Lockhcad, and J. Flecte. The chairman nas appointed to represent the Council at the meeting of local bodies in connection with representation on the Lyttelton - Harbour Board. A donation of £2 2s was voted to the Lincoln District High School for technical classes. It was decided to write to several owners of dogs who liad declined to register them, requesting them to pay the fee or steps would be taken to compel them to.do so. Tenders for works were accepted as follows:— For cleaning Murray's drains, Greenpark, W. Bray; cleaning Sargent's, Leeston road, and Powell's drain., IIPago; cleaning Miles's, Day's road, Chamberlain's, ■J. Marshall's, and Swamp drains, Walker and Jowott. In his monthly report the surveyor stated that summonses had been issued against several defaulting ratepayers. After the ordinary meeting a specal meeting was held, at which the recently drafted traction by-laws were adopted.
