CHIA COMMITTED FOR TRIAL

(Received March 21st, 5.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE, March 21. Chia has been committed for trial for wounding with intent to murder Yung Liang Hwong, the Chinese Con-sul-General.

The evidence showed that Chia- had been discharged from the Consulate omploy by the Chinese Government, and intimated his intention to return to China. He sought to obtain from Yung Liang introductions to Ministers, and was annoyed at not obtaining them. When asked to leave the office he commenced shooting. After his arrest Chia declared that he intended to kill Yung Liang because he abused him, and then to kill himself.
