Mr King O'Malloy,' referring to the preference granted to.British manufacturers supplying . material for the Trans-Continental Railway, declared: "If wo have to pay 4000 per cent, for preference, wo are prepared to do it. This country ■ is" the offspring of Britain, and this Government has no regard for tariff considerations or other matters when it comes to, the question of extending our relations with the Mother Country. ■ The Australian Govornment has no ill-feeling against) the manufacturers of other countries, but all tho same will pay 1000 per rent., and even more, to get things made where their own flesh and blood will reap tho benefit. ,.
