FATAL INJURIES TO A CONSTABLE.
ALLEGED ASSAILANT ARRESTED
! (PRESS ASSOCIATION" TSXEGRAM.) PALMEKoTUN N., February 5. Constable Doyle, who was admitted to the Palmerston Hospital on Monday suffering from a broken log and facial abrasions, the result of an assault made upon him at Shannon last Saturday, died at 5.30 this morning. He was not altogether a strong man, having been on sick leave for a time last September. He was about thirty-five years of age, and was a married 'man. He leaves a widow and two children, who reside in Auckland.
A man ftamed McDonald was arrested on Monday and remanded for a week.
