A meeting of tho Spreydon Borough Council was held last night. Present — The Mayor (Mr W. 11. Gahagan), Crs. W. H. Winsor, Thos. Thornton, W. H. Atkinson, J. W. Bowles, S. A. Hanoock, R. Nairn, and 6. 11. Whiting.

Replying to the Council's request for a water-sprinkler,-'tho Tramway Board wrote stating that owing Jo the excessive mileage on the Lincoln road line, due to tho absence of a water depot, tho resulting charges to the Council would bo so high as to preclude their even considering the matter. The Finance Committee's report was read and adopted. The District Fund Account showed receipts £281 3s sd, debit bank balance £609 13s 2d. The Loan Account showed a credit bank balanco of £20 18s 4d. The Works Committee stated that owing to several amendments being required in the bylaws, and following on an interview with the Public Health Officer, who sugg sloJ several additions to strengthen his Denartment's hand, they recommended that a By-laws Committee should be appointed to. go into tho matter and " report. Crs. Winsor, Wh : ting. and Bowles were appointed a committee. It was reported that seven building permits had beon issued since last meeting, the amount involved being £2250.
