MELBOURNE, January 14. At the Australasian Science Congress thero was a discussion on general problems in regard to soil fertility in Australia, and several papers wero read on tha subject. The general opinion was that fertilisers in Australia were seldom worked out in cultivated land. Practically the whole of what was not used up by tho crop remained as permanent additions to tho soil within nine inches of the surface.
