.MEETING OF COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the General Committee of th<> Oxford A. and P. Association was held on Saturday. The President (.Mr W. Weld) wa& "in the chair, and sixteen members of the committee were present. A discussion took place on the Territorial camp, which will be held from the 7th to I'Oth April. It was pointed out that this would not only militate largely against the attendance of young men at the show on April • 10th, but would seriously handicap farmers in preparing their exhibits for and taking them to the show. it W as Ultimately resolved that the Officer Commanding the District be communicated with, with a view to obviating the difficulty and granting, exemption froir. attendance in camp till after Apia lOtlT. A letter from the Oxtord County Council, inviting the Association to a public meeting to be held on tiie lSth to protest against the action of the Government in hanging up the Ashley Gorge-JSnowdale road, was received and oon&idered.
The Oxford Jockey Club wrote presenting the Association with a tenguinea cup to be competed for in the classes for ligh;t horses, including competitions. Tiie secretary was ins-tiucted to write to the Club expressing the Association's warm gratitude and. appreciation of the generous gilt. Mr O'Hal.oran brought up the question of Government exhibits at tho show. He suggested that as the Defence system of the Dominion required several definite classes of horses, and as breeders have not a clear idea'as to the exact type of horses required, the Government should be asked to make an exhibit of horses of the requisite type. It was decided that Mr O'Halloran communicate with the Defence Department in this regard.
Seven entries were received for the milk test competition, and it was left to the secretary to sec the competition carried out.
It was also reported that there had been three entries for the cottage garden competition, and Mr T. Williams, of Greendale, had made a first inspection of the gardens. The schedule was revised, and a number of new classes added. The sections for house and dairy produce, Bowers, and fancy work were referred to the Ladies' Committee. Provision is to bo made for shearing and shoeing competitions In connection with tho O'Halloran Cup for. the four best Corriedale ewe lambs, it was decided that for 1913 and 1914 the lambs be the property of the exhibitor, but that in 1915 and following years the lambs be "bred by exhibitor:" The lambs are to be judged by points, - viz., size and constitution 3, evenness of quality of wool 2, appearance, weight, and quality of wool 4, symmetry of lamb 1, Total 10 points. It was resolved that the entrance gate and approach to the show grounds from Church street be put in hand at once.
A sub-committee of nine members was appointed to allocate tho special prizes. Seven rtevr members were elected. The president reported that Mrs J. R. Gorton had decided.to present the Association with a. five-guinea cup for competition.
