At a demonstration at Pretoria to support General Hortzoij, General DeWet declared that General Hertzog was the only representative of tho people in tho Cabinet. General Do Wot spoko from a manure heap, and said ho pre-, ferrod to bo there with the-people- than on the most brilliant platform with foreigners. The demonstrators proceeded to General Hcrtzog's house, and General Hertzeog, in a speech, apologised for his thoughtless reference to Sir T. W. Smartt's Imperialism.
