! • .. J At the annual meeting of the Christehurch Women's Christian Temperance Union tho following were elected officers for the year:—President., Jlre J. McCombs; vice-presidents, Mesdames H. Colo, T. E. Taylor and Blyth; corresponding secretary, Mrs Jtuth Day; record secretary, Mrs J. Bingham; treasurer, Mrs AY. 11. Seed. A meeting of' the Mandevillo and Rangiora River Hoard was held in Monday. Present—Messrs J. C Doak (chairman), Hughes, Moreland, Power and Young. A copy of a petition from "W. Smith and 143 other/;, praying for '< abolition of the Board, was received from the Department of Internal Affairs. The following motion was carried:— "That this JJoard is of opinion that if a better scheme of drainage can bo carried out by the City Council, extending the rating area, this Board has no objection to olfer." At tho quarterly meeting of the Woolston Lodge, L0.0.F., M.U., tho election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—-G.lML, lire Hooper; N.G., Bro. Craig; V.G., Bio. Longuet; P.S.. Bro. E. Darison : K.S., Bro. Amos; L.M., Bro Hooper, R.C. to X.G., Bro. Lily; L.S. to X.G., Bro Gill; K..S to V.G.. Bro. Xelligan; L.S. to V.G., Bro. '.Rogers; Guardian, Bro. Penfold. Tho election of Wavtlen was left over till a future meeting. The quarterly summoned meeting of tho Queen's Own Lodge, No. 36, Protestant Alliance Lod<?e, was held on Monday night. Bro. R. C. Rix. W.M., presided, and a large number of members were present. Delegates for the next Grand Lodge Session were appointed. The Benevolent Fund Co-op. Assurance scheme was adopted , . The question of dealing witli members in arrears was left over until next quarter nisht.
