(Bcfofo Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) FIGHT IN THE STREET. Tho rowdy behaviour of two men fighting in Manchester street on Wednesday night attracted tho attention of a constable. Tho men woro arrested and taken to the police station, where they gavo their names as Thomas O'Neill and William Black. They obtained bail, but O'Neill was tho only ono who appeared. In each caso a fino of ss, in default 48 hours' imprisonment, was imposed. MAINTENANCE. Frank O'Donnell, a young man, was ordered to pay £1 per week towards the maintenance of his wifo and child. "Walter Butler proceeded against Albert Goodman to recover £9, alleged to be duo on the sale of a horse. Tho plaintiff's case was that he had a horse which ho wished to dispose of, and tho defendant offered him £10 for tho animal, also purchasing a collar for os. On tho day of tho sale the defendant paid nlaintiff 255, but tho balance of £9 wag still owing. Tho defendant denied that ho bought the horse. R Newell (Mr Rowe) claimed £38 7s od from W. D. Wakefield (Mr Leathern), made up by £25 damages for breach of contract, and £13 7s od for milk supplied. Tho sum of £13 7s 5d was admitted, but the damages were contested. The evidence showed that plaintiff had sold a milk round to tho ■defendant with a provision in the agreement that if defendant wished to dispose of the round within twelve months first reftisal had to be given to plaintiff. R. B. Henderson and C. IXalley, for allowing cattle to stray, were, each fined os. William Dickie, master of the Carleton School, was charged on two informations with violently assaulting two boys^—Leslie Walsh (eight yearij) and Arthur Walsh (seven years)—with tho school str.p. The case was adjoumea till February 20th. Rebecca Smith, who did not-appear, charged her husband, Frederick Smith, with assault. The caso was struck out.
