A thick drizzling rain fell before the gates \ v.-oro opened at Ellerslie this morning, but i tbo weather gradually cleared, and did not I interfero with training operations, 'i'he bulk of the work was done on the outside of the course proper, which was in good order. Masterpiece and Brown Owl went one , , , round, and Gjenfinnan joining in over the last mile, the journey was covered iv 2min 8 3-stli sec. Masterpiece and Gleniinnan nnished together, with Brown Owi two lengths away. Jack Delaval galloped four furlongs in 52 2-sth sec, and Tangiwai pleased better than Hoathorbrao over six" furlongs, run in lmin ID 2-sth sec. Santa llosa did a round lon the tan assisted by Advocate over the last mile, which was run in lmin 52scc. ■ J Waiorcwa and Bleriot, who had the assistI ance of Lady Gladstone- over the last four furlongs, ran six furlongs on the sand in lmin 22sec, Waiorcwa going best. Winning Way and Nightwatch were together at tbo end of five furlongs, the last five of which were covered in lmin 7sec. Lo Reina was going easier than Vice-Admiral over a round in *2inin 7 4-sth sec, and Bobrikoff did a round on the tan at a sound three-quarter paco.
