THE PREMIERSHIP
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. , TOKIO, December 18. Marquis Taro Katsura has accepted the Premiership. General Marquess Taro Katsura, Hon. G.C.8., was born at Chosin in 1847. Hj was educated at tho military school in Prussia, and entered the Array in 1867. Ho served in the war of the Restoration, arid was Military Attache to the Japaneso Legation at Berlin from 1875 to 1878. Ho was vice-manager of the Army 1386-1891, achieved the Army reform, and • was Commander-in-Cli.ef ot the Third Division. He served in the China-Japaneso war 1391-95, was Governor-General of Formosa in 1896, and Chef Commandant of the Tokio Bay Defence 1806-98. Ho held tho post of War Minister from 189S till 19U0, and was Prime Minister of Japan from 1901 till 1906, and again in 1908.
