WARSHIPS GOING EAST IN A HURRY.
MALTA, November 7. The King Edward, Zealandia, Hindu, stan, and Africa, steaming at 18 knots, havo passed eastward. Tho Hibernia, Britannia, Commonwealth and Dominion are coaling in readiness to move. All colliers arriving aro being despatched eastwards. GIBRALTAR, November 6. After receiving orders to proceed to Portsmouth, tho Black Pnnoo was ordered to tho Near East. CONSTANTINOPLE, November 6. Admiral Sir Archibald Milne, commanding tho Mediterranean Static_n, states that tho cruiser Good Hopo & proceeding at full steam to Constantinople.
Ho is also arranging to land a. largo force of bluejackets.
Tho British battleship squadron now hastening through tho Mediterranean to Turkish waters is a powerful force. It- does not contain a Dreadnought, bu. tho vessels are among tho most formidable cf tho pre-Dreadnought skips. Tho vessels form a homogeneous squadron, their tonnage (16,350), armament (four 12in and four 9.2 in guns), and speed (18§ knots) being tho samo. The Black Princo is an armoured cruiser of 13.550 tons, with a speed of 22J knots. The Weymouth, now in Turkish waters, is a.small vessel of 5000 tons.
