RIFLE SHOOTING.
CHRISTCHURCH RIFLE CLUB v. H.M.S. PIONEER.
Teams of . eight men representing tho Christchurch Defence Rifle Club and H.M.S; Pioneer fired a match at Cashmere on Saturday, conditions being seven Bhots (optional sighter) at 200, 500 and 600 yds. The weather was unplen-eant, a bittorly cold easterly prevailing, which also proved very tricky at tunes. At the 20.0 and 500 yds' ranges the figure targets troubled the man-o'-warsmen, who had not previously fired at them, and tho Rifle Club won somewhat easily. At the conclusion of tho match Deputy-president R. Duthie, on behalf of tlie club, and Gunner Sandford, on behalf of the sailors, made complimentary epcechfes, and cheers were exchanged.
