THE Y.W.C.A. BUILDING CAMPAIGN.

"THE HALF-WAY MARK."

"Wβ " have reached the half-way mark, the pinnacle, so to speak, ia our campaign," said Miss Barnes, organising secretary of the Y.W.C.A., to the members of the Canvassing Committee at lunch yesterday. "Half of our time has gone, so let us start with renewed energy and determination in the closing stages of our campaign." In the course of her remarks, Miss Barnes said: —"During the last forty- ' eight hours I have heard from different I sources that the moral effect of this i campaign will last long after tho cam- : paign itself has ended, and the faith- ' fulness of those men and women who • have given up so much time .to the I movement is one of tho most tremen- ■ dous things Christchurch has known. i Personally, I am extremely proud of I the self-sacrifice and Christian spirit, ! and tho perseverance shown by those i who are taking part in the campaign." ( "Ib is wonderful what an interest is i shown in the movement," said Miss i McNiel, general secretary of the : Y.W.C.A., to a "Press" reporter yester- ' day, "and how willing some are to give, no matter how ill they can afford !to do so. We visited an old lady, an old age pensioner, who eaid that she i could not give anything just now, but ' she would be getting her pension dur- • ing the week, and would be most happy to give us a contribution if we called later. Our list also includes a donation of 3d from an old lady who is an : inmate of the Jubilee Home." i The following are the results of the i canvassing for the period ended at soon yesterday: — WOMEN'S TEAMS. » «.
