ASHBURTON DAIRY FACTORY.

At the second annual meeting of the Ashburton Co-operativo Dairy factory Company (Mr John Grigs presiding) the report submitted by tho. directors stated that during tho year 429,0741b uncommercial butter had been manuiactured and of this 94 tons-had been: sold f.o.b'-Lyttelton at a very satisfactory price, tho remainder having been dis. posed of locally. The cream suppliers had received Is Oid per lb for butter fat, and tho milk suppliers about lliC per lb Competition had been very keen, but thc prospects for the future *ere very bright. T1.3 profit and loss a.>x>unt showed a credit of £131 13s lOd. Tho directors recommended that this amount, together with £243 19s from last year, be carried forward. The chairman in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, drew attention to the running expenses, which had been rather high, but the directors were of opinion that they would be able to reduce expenditure under this head by about £500 next year. He would like shareholders to realise the real benefit the factory was to all thoss who had land suitable for dairying. Tho company ' might not havo had quite so good a year as they had hoped, yet he was quite sure that tho company -would become a great asset in t_i3 cou lty when it was properly supplied by tho farmers. Tho report and balance-sheet were adopted. Messrs Hi A Lloyd, H. Cullen. J. Findlay_, D. McKenzio. and C. Reid were re-elected dire _tor.?. Mr John Grigs was re-eleetod chairman, and Mr 0. Reid deputy-chairman. Mr J. W. Rowden was appointed auditor.
