Dissatisfaction with tho conditions under which its members are employed was expressed by a deputation from the Federated Engine-drivers', River Engi-
neers , nnd Firemen's Association, which waited on tho Minister of Laboui (the Hon. W. P. Masscy) this morniag. flu* deputation comijrisod Messrs J.
Road (Wellington), T. Cain (Auckland), and F. C. Ellis (Christchurch). Tfio , Minister was informed that at present conditions for enffinc-drivers nro fixed by the award governing tho industry. in which they aro engaged, and thiswns unsatisfactory 'to them. Tho Association proposed that the law should bo amcndwl to cnablo it to obtain an award fixing conditions for tho employment of enjfineers in all industries in which its members wero engaged. Mr Massey oxpro.ssed his appreciation of tho difficulties of the present position, and promised to consult tho Secretary for Labour and tho Crown Law officers with a view to devising some remedy.
