MANIFESTO BY THE NEW UNION
(srECIAL TO "THB TRESS.") W4IHI, September 30. Tho following manifesto has been issued by tho new union:—"Wo as tnem : bers of the recently-formed • Ohinemuri -Mines and Batteries Employees' "Union, desire to make clear our reasons for forming an industrial union under the .Arbitration laws of Now Zealand. We belong to that section which wore not satisfied with the.- ballot taken by the Waihi "Onion upon the question of cancollation of its registration urdor the Arbitration Act. The deadlock which has since occuirerl and* which has lasted for nearly fivo months can only be terminated by the action we have taken. We decline to be ft charge upon tho generosity of our fellow workers, when there is profitable employment awaiting us and a judicial tribunal, in tlie caso of a dispute, is offered to us. Wo bear no animosity towards those who thiik that We are wrong in taking this, the only line of action possible to bring about re ■employment. We ask that those who are willing to return to their work shall recognise that all sectionshave right's and liberties. Wβ invito you to join us in sharing tho management of the union's affairs, leaving the final settlement of disputes to the law of the land in which wo live."
