JOTTINGS FOR FARMERS.
A late frost on Monday morning ■nipped the iops of some.of the early potatoes in the gardens in and about Christclmrcb.
There have been fifteen entries received for the liangiora Horse Parade to-day, being two loss than last year. There arc eight in the draught section, six in the trotting, and ono thoroughbred.
After a few days of showery but mild weather, a cold,, snap was experienced at Waiau on Sunday. Heavy rain and sleet fell, ami tho mountains received a coating of snow. Fortunately tho snap lasted but a few hours, or tins result would have been disastrous to lambing. The skies cleared in tho evening, find a. sharp frost followed, the second within tho last few days. In spite of this, grass is making a vigorous growth.
Tho Wellington agent of tho Press Association telegraphs that the Ituahino brought to jfew Zealand two Clydesdale stallions purchased in Great Britain by Mr Kenneth Mclntosh, of Kaiapoi. One of these is Crandale, » two-year-old, which is described by tho newspaper "Scottish Farmer" as one of the best stallions ever exported from 'Great' Britain. The other horse is Revolution, three years old { which secured second prize at the English Royal Show at Doncaster last July. Both animals were landed in excellent condition.
