FIFTH DAY OF THE CONTEST.
The contests wero continued at the Choral Hall last evening before a good house. Xne programme opened with three tableaux by the lollowing societies:—Cambridge) terrace, Linwood Methodist, and Oxford terrace Baptist, the subjects selected being particularly clever ones. Ihe pianoforte duets, hoop drill, Band of Rope oral addresses (section 1) and other items were successfully performed, and. ;an Original dialogue rendered by the Church of Christ waa also given. The following were the prize winners for Thursday night:—'Quartette (Class E, male)— Oxford terrace Baptist Church. ' • Mandolin Solo (open)— Miss D. Dowker (Oxford terrace Baptist). Vio'.in Solo (Class B)—Master E. Harper (Oxford terrace-Baptist). ,-.■'•. Action Song—Cresoent road 1, Oxford terrace 2. Recitation' (Clas3 D, female) —Miss Gladys Drayton (Oxford terrace Baptist) 1, Miss Evelyn Lucas (Crescent road) 2. Bugle Competition—W. Timms (Oxford terrace) 1, Jack Wilson (Linwood Methodist) 2. Club Solo (section 1, male) —Leslie Palmer (Cambridge terrace). "" To-night's programme has been, specially arranged for the ohildren, and contains a number of items which should prove attractive to the young. The programme will include pianoforte and vocal bolos, a dialogue by the Linwood Methodist church, and numerous recitations.
